This event brought back childhood memories of the school fête as a motley bunch of “athletes” demonstrated that they still have what it takes to strive for glory under a blazing sun.  What they lacked in coordination they made up for with enthusiasm and a “never say die” attitude that roused the raucous crowd to a crescendo at the culmination of each heat.  A few achieved glory and went home with prizes, while those who were disappointed this year vowed to return for a rematch next year.
